The Almuñécar Councillor for Public Works and Urban Development, José M. Fernández Medina, announced more roadworks in the Avenida Juan Carlos area.
This time it means digging up Calle Neveria and Calle Notaria, which are the ones that run down the side of Bar Manilla and swings round near the Bar Mississippi tunnel to come out on the beach road next to Restaurante Maria Carmen Por Favor! (the old Bar Petuñas).
Having explained where they are, we’ll go into detail about when and why. The “why” is the habitual reason behind roadworks on the coast; i.e., new, rain drainage, mains water, phone lines, etc, etc.
As to when, it will be done in two stages: from this Monday to the Día de Andalucía fiestas (28th February) and then plunge on immediately afterwards until almost Easter, so that the whole project will last about three months.
Now, Aguas y Servicios, who will be carrying out the work, will have to coordinate with Endesa and Telefónica, which means that there will be delays, as was the case on the middle section of the Avenida de Andalucía.
One last thing, the palm trees that can be seen lining the mouth of Calle Neveria will be hooked out because they can’t get the digging machinery down the street with them in the way, which should please the locals as tree rats use them as motorways to get onto their balconies.
