A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the mugging of a mechanic in Salobreña at the end of August.
They have also identified his alleged accomplice during the aggression that took place on the 27th of August, near where the quasi bus station stands.
The mechanic had been duped into inspecting a car of the suspect because it supposedly had something wrong with the engine. Whilst the mechanic was looking under the bonnet that accomplice appeared and grabbed him by the neck and threatened him with a clasp knife.
Fortunately, there was a witness who saw what was going on and phoned the Guardia Civil, but not before the two aggressors could make off with the mechanics mobile and wallet. They fled the scene in the car that had supposedly broken down.
The police located the suspects because they had checked up on the mechanics incoming call – the suspect had phone him, asking him to meet him next to the car.
The suspect is a young man from Vélez Benaudalla. His accomplice, who is a foreign resident of Motril, has apparently fled the country since.
