The Guardia Civil recovered the body of a man around 50-years old from the sea just off Playa de Cagailla, which lies between Salobreña and Motril.
It took them several hours because the body was attached by chains to water containers filled with sand.
The police were alerted at 13.15h yesterday after a surfer came across the body. All three police forces arrived on the scene but it was the Guardia Civil to whom fell the task of recovering the dead man, as they have maritime capacity.
The Guardia launch marked the spot with a buoy so that their divers (Grupo de Actividades Subacuáticas) could bring the body up from where it was anchored, three metres down at a distance of ten metres from the beach.
No further information is available at the moment.
