Guardia Civil 1 – Buzzard 0

SPN seprona rescue buzzardThe Guardia Civil don’t only catch thieves; they also catch birds, in this case, a buzzard.

Somehow the Buitre Leonado had become trapped on the roof of a municipal sports facility – maybe it suffers from vertigo – in Puigcerdà (Cataluña), so the environmental branch of the Guardia Civil, Seprona, were called in.

It was the 14th of August at 13.00h they received the call and pounced into action. Using by a state-of-the-art net and ingrained slight of hand, fruit of being bawled at during boot camp, they netted the blighter and handed it over so that it could be taken to a vet.

So, if you have an animal trapped on your roof, call the Guardia Civil – don’t call the municipal police as they will just shoot it and then say that it had killed itself, leaving behind a suicide note.
