Prolific Burglar Caught

SAL SpiderwomanAt least 20 break-ins on the Costa Tropical may have been solved after the arrest in Salobreña of a woman, identified as J.G.M.

The Guardia Civil arrested her, accusing her of burglaries in Salobreña, Castell de Ferro, Gualchos and Polopos. The Policia Nacional also suspect her of six more in Motril.

Locally, she is known as the Spiderman of Salobreña thanks to her prolific activity at scaling walls up to the first floors in order to enter homes whilst their owners lay asleep in their beds.

Once inside she would only ‘lift’ small objects that she could easily carry on her leaving her hands free to climb back down: mobiles, tablets wallets, etc.

The actual arrest took place at her home on last Wednesday afternoon. She was later positively identified by a woman who had come across her in her house, causing the cat-burglar to flee.

Finally, the suspect had already been arrested once (09/05/2017) for this type of crime and had been released pending trial. Consequently, the magistrate has order her to be retained in custody.

Editorial comment: Logically, you would have thought that she would have been given the nickname of Spiderwoman but the word Spiderman has been imported (colloquially and locally) into Spanish without its component parts being taken into consideration. Given that she is allegedly a cat-burglar, a more fitting nickname would have been Catwoman.
