Torrenueva beach saw the arrival of 32 illegal immigrants in an open boat, amongst them two women. All of them were from sub-Saharan Africa.
Arrests were made at 07.30h after a local phoned in to say that about 30 immigrants in a boat were heading towards the shore.
Prompt action by the Policía Nacional however, meant that the police were there to greet them. They were taken to the Motril reception centre and checked over by Red Cross volunteers just after 08:30h.
It is likely that this boat was the one that the Salvamento Marítimo had been searching for during the early hours of the morning, after they were tipped off to its departure Monday morning from the Moroccan coast.
