Nº 20 Update

There must be a score of reasons why you should dine out at No20… here are a couple to be going on with: their daily changing menu del dia, the tasting menus, or even the monthly changing a la carte options. All good reasons, and you won’t need 20/20 vision to spot the rave reviews this venue is racking up.

The fact is, the place is very, very busy, so if you want to partake of their delicious fayre, then booking first is strongly advised.

When I last spoke to Mark and Laurent, they asked us to thank all their clients old and new who have made No20 the success it has been so far.
Go on! Book yourself a table and live a little…

Red Cross Telecare Service

We received this from a very nice lady called Susan Howes, about a new and exciting service now being offered:

“I’m a Red Cross volunteer and have been asked to tell you of a new service being offered by Cruz Roja, in the hope that you will inform your readers.

It’s a Telecare service which keeps the user in permanent touch with a team of qualified professionals at a call centre.

It comprises a personal alarm telephone and a remote alarm unit in the form of a pendant or bracelet. Just by pressing a button, contact is made with the English speaking call centre 24 hours, every day of the year.

Potential users can find out more by calling 954 36 80 87 or by coming to our local branch in Motril, which is located across the pedestrian bridge from the municipal swimming pool at Calle Alonso Terrón 5.

That is also the address if anyone fancies helping us out, as more volunteers are always welcome.”

Acompalia Golf Event

The third Acompalia golf event will take place on Friday May 19th at the Los Moriscos Golf Course at Playa Granada, Motril.

Proceeds from the event will go to Acompalia, a charity supporting terminally ill patients and their families in Granada province and along the Costa Tropical in southern Spain.

The day is open to golfers of all abilities, so they want you to join in as Handicaps will be applied thus ensuring that anyone and everyone has a chance of winning on the day. Supporters and spectators are also welcome.

Pricing has yet to be finalised but will represent a real bargain for golfers and will include many extras such as refreshments on the course, winners’ prizes and a charity draw with many exciting prizes. For an additional sum an excellent lunch is planned.

“The Los Mariscos course lies in a beautiful setting and, in my mind is more reminiscent of a nature reserve,” said Chris Oliver, Acompalia’s Treasurer and keen golfer, “While Acompalia’s aims are serious, we believe in enjoying and treasuring life and are looking forward to a day of good sport, good exercise, good food and friendly fun.”

“Our fundraising events are more vital than ever,” Acompalia’s President, Lindsay Ostervig, explained, “Acompalia evolves to meet the growing need for its services. The Acompalia Helpline and ‘Buddying’ service are already helping terminally ill patients and their families in Granada and along the Costa Tropical.

Our base in Lanjarón, which includes a shop and complementary medicine treatments, has proven to be extremely popular and also contributes financially.”

Registration 09.00 and the match itself will start at 10.00. Registration & lunch booking at website www.acompalia.org Or contact Chris Oliver at: chris@acompalia.org. for entry forms and further details.
