ALM Volunteer Riverbed Clean Up OnLVolunteers were out clearing up one of the riverbeds in Almuñécar, picking up all the rubbish, giving up their spare time to give the town a better image.

Headed by Anna Connolly, these civic-minded residents made their way along Rio Seco, at the beginning of April, but it is not the first time as this volunteer group meet up every now and then to carry out such chores, targeting specific areas.

The section of Rio Seco that was cleared is the section between the IES Al Andalus (the high school in San Sebastian) down to the river mouth, itself, next to Hotel Almuñécar Playa.

The municipal environmental department and the municipal cleaning company FCC, provided bags, caps and gloves, as well as a lorry to cart the filled rubbish bags away.

This group of volunteers, by the way, received one of the Premios Medio Ambiente 2017 awards in March.

Enhorabuena!
