The Consumer Department of the Motril Town Hall has issued a warning about calls supposedly from an electricity company for obligatory home inspections.
It would appear that people claiming to be from Iberdrola have been calling homes to say that they will be coming round to carry out ‘obligatory,’ electrical-installation inspections and then charging 39 euros for the visit.
These tricksters quote a law (Real Decreto 842/2002) to justify the inspection but the said law “does not include any such obligation on the part of the homeowner,” says the councillor in charge of the Consumer Complaints Department, David Martín.
For this reason he recommends that homeowners/tenants do not let these people in.
Editorial comment: Another variation of the bogus gasman scam, so best to be on your guard.
