The ferry company, Armas, is certainly investing heavily in its Motril connection as they have now included a fast ferry for the port.

The said ferry, Volcán de Teno, which has a twin hull; i.e., a catamaran, will connect Motril to Nador, Melilla and Alhucemas; all on the North African coast.

It also fills the function of stepping in when either of the two other ferries needs to be temporarily withdrawn from service for maintenance.

The Volcán de Teno, which is 95.47m in length and can reach 40 knots, can carry nearly 1,000 passengers and 260 vehicles.
