A married couple and their 12-year-old daughter suffocated when a huge pile of clothes fell on them, burying them completely.

They had been collecting 2nd-hand clothes at home to sell them and had hundreds of kilos of clothing items stacked on shelves.

This incident occurred in a region of Valencia between 08.00h and 09.00h on Saturday the 28th of January at 141 Avenida Alcoi in Alicante, to be exact.

The bodies of the victims, a Spanish male of 50, his naturalized Moroccan wife of 49 and their 12-year-old daughter, were not discovered until 13.00h that same day when their 18-year-old daughter discovered them.

This second daughter had been sleeping in another room and had not been woken by the sound of the shelves giving way or the muffled cries as she had been awake most of the night surfing the net.

Apparently most of the walls of the flat had shelves up to the ceiling, with some clothes being stack on the floor below the bottom shelves.
