Whoopee, Beer!

MOT local brewYes, it’s hot and what better refreshing drink than a caña… OK, there’s water, but even so, we have a treat for beer drinkers: a local beer fair!

What do you mean, the Spanish don’t brew good beer? In a region where it’s 40 degrees in September… of course they do good beer!

Right! Organized by the Motril Town Hall, together with the Mancomunidad and the Asociación Granada Más, the beer fair will be held on the 16th and 17th of September on the Plaza de la Coronación.

Just some of the brews participating are: Gaitanejo, Far West (Almería), Nazarí, Gharnata, Cerveza San Francisco, Tierra de Frontera, La Catarina and the Motril brewery, Cerveza Vega.

This is the first Feria de Cerveceros en la Costa Tropical and it won’t be the last if the thirsty lads of the Seaside Gazette have any say in it. Long-timers here might remember, after all, the Gazette started off life in La Herradura at the Beer Academy.

These are artisan brews, not mass-produced ones and they are lovingly nursed into life. The Motril brewery, for example, brews a brown ale…. Motril… a brown ale – slap me with a wet kipper to make sure that I am not dreaming!

Oh and there will also be a DJ, dancing and merry making in general.

Don’t miss it!
