The Santa Fe municipal police managed to identify a hit & run driver of a van, which had hit a biker, as a French national on a camping holiday in the area.

The accident took place on the Calle Alcalde Juan Peinado in Santa Fe at around four in the afternoon over the first weekend of March.

The 112 emergency number received several calls from pedestrians and drivers, reporting that a 26-year-old Romanian man on a bike had been injured after being hit by a van.

Soon afterwards, a Guardia Civil patrol located the vehicle parked outside a supermarket. The French driver explained that the van was not his and that he was camped out together with other friends near the Aguas Calientes area of the township.

He explained that he had panicked when he hit the motorcyclist, which is why he had driven off.

As for the said biker, he was taken to the Hospital de Traumatología in Granada with a fractured leg and other injuries.
