Eventful Weekend in Motril

The weekend shift for the Policia Local kicked off to a fun start on Friday at 18.00h with the arrest of a violent gentleman.

Locals from the north of the town reported that there was a man beating the hell out of street furniture; benches, bins etc, so a patrol was sent to investigate.

They asked him for his ID which he appears to have taken badly because he then set upon the policemen, according to the police report. He was ‘subdued,’ read his rights and marched off.

Then at 03.00h Saturday morning a patrol car intercepted another gentleman who was driving erratically; i.e., on the wrong side of the road – no, it wasn’t a Brit.

The police waved him down and asked him to take a breathalyzer test. Surprisingly, he was reluctant to do so and even adopted an “aggressive” attitude.

No doubt, with the cozy police station beckoning at that cold hour of the morning, the decision was made to whisk him off to the said destination.

Sunday morning got off to a sad start at 11.00h when a gentleman of advanced age collapsed from a heart attack on Calle Ancha. Although the paramedics tried to revive him when they reached the scene, their efforts proved fruitless.

But it doesn’t end there because the Policía Local also received a call that same day from a local, to inform them that their neighbour had died.
