The Andalusian forest-fighting body, Infoca, has declared the three fires in the provinces that broke out over the weekend as “extinguished.”

Two fires broke out in the municipality of Lanjarón in the evening of Sunday the 8th and one in Los Guájares, which jointly affected about 130 hectares of shrub-land.

The first one brought under control and put out was in the Barranco de la Chuca (Lanjarón) at 19.05h, followed by the one in La Chaparra (Lanjarón) at 19.40h and finally, Los Guájares at 20.35h on Monday.

The largest fire of the three, in the Barranco de la Chuca, destroyed 120 hectares and caused the evacuation of 550 people from two municipal annexes during the space of several hours.

These were not the only fires over the weekend, as there was also one in Arenas del Rey near the Pantano de Bermejales and another in Enix in Almeria. The hand of pyromaniacs is thought to be behind all of these fire.
