A 19-year-old Moroccan male was arrested by the Guardia Civil in Almuñécar for allegedly carrying out a mugging.

The said mugging took place in the early hours of the 7th of September in the night-bar area of the Paseo del Altillo.

The victim of the attack was a 49-year-old man who suffered facial injuries after reportedly being hit with glass bottle – he was also relieved of the 390 euros that he had on him.

The victim reported the attack to the police, explaining that the alleged aggressor had approached him asking for a cigarette. When he refused to provide one, he claimed, the assailant began striking him and once on the ground, hit him with a bottle in the face.

The police located witnesses who provided a description of the man now in custody.
