Acid Attack in Valencia

The police have arrested five people for their alleged involvement in an attempted murder, in which the victim was doused with acid. The victim was not even their intended target.

The incident, which took place in Valencia last July, resulted in the man losing an eye.

A woman had paid 2,000 euros to a hitman and handed over a photo of the intended victim, telling him where the victim could be found and at what time. But the hitman attacked the wrong person because the person who was in the right place at the right time, bore a strong resemblance to the intended target.

The woman justified her action to the hitman, telling him that the target had raped her… which also turned out to be false.

Besides the hitman and the woman who hired him, two other men who had helped set up the attack, and the wife of one of them who had covered up his participation in the crime, were arrested.
