In Almuñécar, just like everywhere else, the amount of municipal facelifts increases as the coming municipal elections approach.

This time it is the Parque El Mariote, which is situated between the urbanización of that name and the Barrio Los Marinos. Lighting and accessibility have been improved, as well as the ground resurfaced.

The Councillor José Manuel Fernández explained that the Town Hall would be spending 9,000 euros on the project, and that’s even taking into account that the cobblestones from Calle Buenos Aires will be used there instead of buying new material.

Calle Buenos Aires, readers might remember, was recently dug up when they sorted out the sewage and water mains under Plaza Kelibia.

Editorial comment: it doesn’t matter what town it is or which party is running it, lots of money is always suddenly found to carry out all sorts of ‘very visible’ public works as the municipal elections approach.
