The Asociación de Chiringuitos de la Costa Tropical has decided that beach goers should have access to a free wifi connection.

Most chiringuitos have wifi for their clients but you had to be inside or on their terraces to be able to use it. Now the idea is to increase the coverage up to 300 metres around each chiringuito.

To provide this service the said asociacion will invest 25,000 euros on the special routers and boosters.

A pilot scheme is already in place on Playa de Poniente in Motril covering almost all of it. The system is called Wifibeach.

Just as soon as they are assured that the system is working without hitches, the system will be used in Salobreña and then extended to Almuñécar, La Herradura and Calahonda.
