With Easter and the May-Day celebrations behind us, the new section of the A-7 that bypasses Torrenueva completely eliminated the heavy holiday traffic. Pass me my hat; I feel hungry…

Gone, it seems is the high-season, 40-minute ordeal to get through the nine sets of traffic-lights along the N-340 inside Torrenueva… and gone is the banner along the pedestrian bridge where it hung, in a sulk, for 14 years.

The Mayor of Torrenueva, Manuel Carrascos, is a happy bunny, but did have a small complaint about some lorries still using the N-340 because it is a pain for them to use the A-7 bypass due to its access-road gradients.

However, the Mayor and townsfolk are resisting the temptation to unpack the party hats and farting cushions until after the summer, just in case.
