Lobres Demands A-7 Roundabout

SAL Lobres exit OnLA good spattering of socialist politicians, amongst them the Mayor of Salobreña, were out with the banners, backing the protesting locals from Lobres.

The good folk of Lobres are not happy with having the A-7 sail past, rattling their windows, without being able to access it “safely” – they want a roundabout access junction to the A-7 from the GR-5300; i.e., the road that runs past the village.

They turned out to demand that the conservative-run Provincial Council defends this demand before the conservative-run Central Government in Madrid.

Let’s be a little more specific here: there is an access point envisaged, but it basically just spits traffic on to and off from the autovia, but what the locals want is a decent, civilized, roundabout junction where they won’t have to risk their lives.

The formal written request was made in November to the Chairman of the Provincial Council but to date there has been no response… not a sausage.

The Mayor of Salobreña, Fernández Pulido, emphasized the importance of this desired junction, as it will be the only access that Salobreña has for coming down onto the N-323 and N-340, he says.

He also points out that such a “dignified” junction isn’t exactly going to break the bank.

Let’s see…
