Police in Georgia in the US made an arrest recently, nothing unusual there… they were called to an incident, found the alleged offender being rather loud and aggressive, so she was pinned down and placed in handcuffs and taken to the local police station.
The only problem with this situation is that the detained female in question is just 6-years-old.
Our feisty 6-year-old, Salecia Johnson, was having one of those bad days at school, which eventually led to her having a tantrum. She allegedly threw toys, books and paper around, tried to break a glass frame and worst of all, she threw a small shelf, which hit the principal on the leg. Needless to say, this was the last straw and the principal decided that the school, town and state were in serious danger and phoned the police.
The police officer was not happy with Salecia either, because as he approached her she backed away. Now, slap me around the head with a wet kipper if I’m being silly here, but an armed stranger in blue bearing down on a small 6-year-old girl and they find it strange that she should back away? Perhaps the little girl was armed or carrying a bomb? No… but just to be sure the officer took her down, forced her hands behind her back and cuffed her… good and tight.
To be fair here, the officer reported that he was trying to calm her down but she “pulled away and began actively resisting and fighting with me.” And Chief Police Dray Swicord defended his officer, saying, “The child was then placed in handcuffs for her safety and the officer proceeded to bring her down to the police station.”
Just to top off young Salecia’s bad day, charges have been filed against her of simple battery and damage to property.
It does make one wonder… the US has one of the best education systems in the world, however, it does very often seem that as a nation they lack a sense of proportion. Yet they are stunned and shocked when existing or ex-students appear on campus and start shooting people.
Perhaps I am over simplifying things, but would not a trained social worker or team have been a more proportionate response to an upset, aggressive 6-year-old girl rather than an armed police officer with handcuffs?
Sex in the City (Munich)
As usual, in keeping with our World Section commitment to cutting edge journalism, integrity and globally important news, we start with a man in Germany being rescued by the police whilst hiding on an apartment balcony from a nymphomaniac.
Our sexually startled 43-year-old hero met the woman in a Munich bar and readily accepted an invitation back to her place for a bit of rumpy pumpy. However, despite managing to keep his end of the bargain ‘up’ for several hours, the lusty lady was just not satisfied, and when our now flaccid friend tried to leave she locked him in.
After being physically assaulted, the cowering chap managed to lock himself on the balcony, and with the woman rubbing herself provocatively against the glass, managed to use his mobile to contact the police. After ten minutes or so of laughing, two officers turned up and immediately stopped laughing when they were both assaulted by the woman, whereupon she was arrested.
She is now awaiting a court appearance on charges of sexual assault and imprisonment.
Now let this be a lesson to all you ladies… we men are not just sex objects for you to use and abuse as you see fit… we have feelings too!
Lazy German?
This particular story has been doing the rounds on the internet for a few weeks, but still merits a mention in this section, firstly because it is quite funny, but secondly and most of all, it reflects the changing attitudes towards public sector workers in all EU countries.
A German public sector worker, employed as a surveyor in the Town Hall offices of Menden, decided he would have a bit of a laugh on his retirement by sending a global email to all his colleagues telling them how he had done absolutely nothing for the last 14 years in his post.
“Since 1998, I was here, but not here. So I leave well prepared for retirement,” the 65-year-old explained in his email.
After explaining that he had been paid around 745,000 euros for his laziness over the years he went on to blame city administrators for his boredom. This is where it gets tricky… would anyone over 50 really admit that they are not getting the work sent through to warrant their post? He must have surely known that would probably not get another job and decided to just ‘play out’ the one he had.
Right or wrong, it makes no real difference now, but it does make one think of the bigger picture, that if we had all the money that has been needlessly squandered around europe in the last 10 years or so, through mismanagement and corruption, we would probably be talking, not billions, but trillions of euros.
