Torrecuevas’ Romería de San Isidro

Whilst Nerja was celebrating its own romeria, Almuñécar celebrated its own romeria, starting from the El Salvador church in the p-4 and making their way up to Torrecuevas, via Río Verde and its vega.

Twenty horse carts and decked-out vehicles, together with 50 horses, and hundreds of people on foot made the journey to celebrate the Romería San Isidro Labrador. Leaving at eleven in the morning the procession accompanied the effigy of Saint Isidro on a decorated, ox-drawn cart. Most of the journey ran along the river bed, before leaving it to follow the Rambla de Torrecuevas, which was reached around 14.00h.
