Jobs for the Boys?

The party spokesman for the local branch of the Izquierda Unida for Salobreña, Angel Coello, has denounced that the socialist administration under Mayor Gonzalo Pullido intends to increase the number of advisory posts within the town-council administrations.

According to Sr. Coello, this will mean that twelve people will receive either full salaries or half-time ones, all of whom belonging to the ruling PSOE, costing the town 394.375 euros annually. In his opinion, this sort of thing does not happen in the rest of the municipalities on the Costa Tropical.

Finally, he made some scathing observations concerning the ex-PSI councillor who had abandoned his party, taking his councillor seat to the PSOE. Sr. Coello pointed out that the said councillor had campaigned to reduce precisely these kinds of posts and for cuts in the salaries of the Mayor and Councillor for Hacienda (tax office). “I wonder what he thinks about these additions; will he back a proposal for such cuts or was it all a farce on his behalf?” He summed up his opinion as follows, “It isn’t fair, it isn’t honourable, it isn’t democratic, it isn’t proportionate, it isn’t necessary, it isn’t obligatory, and much less left wing.”
