Hash Nabbed

Again, a judge at the Motril criminal law courts has been earning his salary and handed down three year’s imprisonment to a man from Rincón de la Victoria… but he’s not from Almunecar you cry… no, but he was nabbed by the Guardia Civil in Almunecar – the chap in question was caught with 660 kilos of hashish in the boot of his car.

As well as going down for three years, he will also have to pay a fine for the piffling sum of two million euros!

The arrest took place on the 23rd of June last year at 16.30h when the culprit was zooming down the N-340, armed with a French number plate and with enough weed to put an average tropical rain forest to shame. In fact, he would have been OK had he not decided to go onto the A-7, which is where he ran into a police control. Had he not done a handbrake turn – guaranteed to arouse the curiosity of a bored Guardia Civil policeman, then he might have got away. However, a chase took place ending within the municipality of Almunecar.

A quick glance at the back seat of the car and then the boot revealed 21 packages of hashish, with a street value of 928,000 euros.

Of course, he could have emulated the America gentleman in one of Dave Darby’s World articles, and locked himself in until he had smoked the lot, but the car would have probably caught fire after the first 100 kilos…
