Flood Issues

Courtesy of: InfocostatropicalOn the very same day that we were reporting on the flooded and much-potholed Velilla beach road, Salobreña’s main roundabout was awash with rainwater.

Whilst the waves driven by the southerly gale assailed the whole coastline of Granada, pounding Salobreña beach, especially, heavy rains flooded the lower part of the village, causing the Town Council to activate an emergency plan to counter it. The Policía Local, the fire service and the municipal maintenance workers formed teams to tackle the worst hit areas of the lower town.

Down on the beach, the Peñon was hardest hit with the stair-cum-gangway leading up to the restaurant being uprooted. I have a photo of this but no room for it, but you will be able to view this and other related photos on our website section for Salobreña.
