Bus Station Fiasco

Well, it doesn’t look like Salobreña will be getting the long-awaited bus station any time soon, unfortunately. The Junta de Andalucía didn’t include any funds in the regional budget leaving the Salobreña PP and PSOE to blame each other for this disappointment.

According to the Junta, the land offered by the Town Hall for the bus station is ‘not adequate,’ and just in case you are in any doubt where the proposed site is, it is just the other side of the main road, next to the main entrance to the industrial estate.

The local PSOE blame the PP and their political allies, the PSI, for not installing the necessary infrastructure, adding that the Junta’s refusal has nothing to do with a lack of funds.
“The Junta has 900,000 euros set aside for the bus station but they can’t build the installations if the Town Hall still hasn’t provided the basic infrastructure, such as water mains, sewage and electricity,” explained the spokesman for the PSOE.

The Mayor (PP), on the other hand, says that the Junta has never communicated the fact that it considers the terrain ‘not valid,’ criticising the ‘sectarian’ nature of the Junta and the ‘misinterpretations’ given by the local PSOE spokesman. He also points out that there is a lack of control with the Junta because, he complains, they keep swapping department heads around, “No sooner has one sat down in his office, then he is moved on,” he chided.

Well, whatever the case, our dear politicians, both/either in Sevilla and Salobreña are cocking things up, despite their handsome salaries.
