Water Win!

Molvízar has finally won its battle against the nasty water company and their ‘broken meters.’ Incredibly, they actually managed to get the blighters to return their money!
Around 60% of households in the village received a nasty shock in July when they opened their water bills to find that they were three times higher than normal.
Apparently, just about every water meter in the village was broken and according to the PSOE opposition leader, entirely the fault of the PP mayor who hadn’t made the least effort to get them changed in the last 15 years.
On the 1st of January last year, Molvízar was connected to Ciclo Integral del Agua; prior to this, maintenance had been the responsibility of the Town Hall. Then came July when the water company issued the bills for the first quarter of the year. Many people found that they were confronted with bills for 63 euros (90 cubic metres of water)
Locals were furious, qualifying the attitude of the company as arbitrary, lacking the slightest effort to adjust the bills to the average consumption of a household, putting the billed figure closer to 15 to 25 euros.
Collectively, they approached the Department of Consumer Information at the Junta de Andalucía to complain. This lead to a decision being handed down for the amounts overcharged to be returned.
