The Guardia Civil have recovered a package from the sea, just off Punta de la Mona, containing 26 kilos of cocaine.
The find came as a result of a tip-off from someone who said there appeared to be a strange looking package, wedged between rocks, in the shallows just off the Punta.
So the Guardia set out in one of their trusty boats, with a whole bunch of Guardia divers (I wonder if they have triangular diving masks to match their hats?) to commence a search of the area.
The package was located very quickly, but despite a quite extensive search by the divers, no other drugs were found.
The Guardia have started an investigation into how the package came to be in such a strange location, inaccessible by land. No arrests have been made as yet in connection with the find.
NB: It would seem a very strange place for anyone to try and hide even a small package… there’s usually more rubber clad people down there than fish!
