Neither the buildersn or the development company for the VPO’s (government subsidized housing) in La Caleta, Salobreña, have offered any explanation as to why the housing is not ready for handing over, as promised.

Baby Falls from Town Hall 1st Floor

A 17-month child plunged 4.5 metres from the 1st-floor of the Motril Town Hall on Monday the 19th. The baby girl, who survived the fall, is in the Intensive Care Unit.
Almuñécar 45 Million Euro Deficit

The new administration in the Almuñécar Town Hall has had a bit of a shock. The counting has finally finished and the results for the audit which goes back to 2007 and covers the period up until 31 December, 2010, are in.
Unfortunately, the figures show that the administration owes around 45 million euros for the said period, reported the Councillor for Finance, Antonio Laborda.
Longer Work Days

The Town Hall clerks will now have to work one afternoon a week – they’re not pleased. The union would prefer that their members worked half an hour more every day, rather than 2.5 hours on one particular afternoon. Anyway, talks are still taking place with the staff but it is liable to be a Tuesday or Thursday afternoon.
Crackdown on Rubbish

The Salobreña Town Hall has sent out ultimatums to 30 owners of empty building plots and/or derelict buildings around the town. The message is clear: you tidy them up, or we will, and then we’ll send you the bill.
Funding Blocked

The Tax Office (Hacienda) is withholding 400,000 euros from the Almuñécar Town Hall, for not having its accounting up to date. But Almuñécar is not alone in this because a total of 17 other municipalities have shared the same fate for the same reason.
Salobreña Debt Worry

Yet another alleged failure to pay bills by the previous PP administration in the Salobreña Town Hall has come to light. This time it’s the company that has the contract to clean the streets, Fomento de Consrucciones y Contratas.
Almuñecar Facelift?

The Town Hall plans to rejuvenate the old town around the castle in Almuñecar and turn it into a tourist friendly area, using half a million euros from the 1.5m-euro fund set aside by becoming an official provincial tourist town.
The Town Council is looking forward to the economic boost that the new tourist status will bring and are pledging to give the town a facelift.
New Municipal Offices Near Castle

The residents of the San Miguel area (old town area around the Castle) of Almuñecar now have a local municipal office, which is located on Calle San Miguel, in what was the old school building.
Longer Town-Hall Hours
