The Town Hall has announced that it is working on the compilation of a guide or manual on how to attend members of the public, to be used by its staff.
The objective of the guide, says the Town Hall, is to improve professionalism and citizen satisfaction, either in person or on the telephone, so no more being dragged into the storeroom and being beaten up for filling in a request form incorrectly… just joking.
The guide is being knocked up by the Municipal Department of Protocol (also known as the grumpy-before-coffee-break office) and covers: initial contact, a welcome and the development of the encounter, amongst other topics.
Joking aside, this is a welcome step in the right direction, but once written and distributed, it will be a case of getting the staff to actually read it, of course. Will there be an exam on the comprehension of its content? It would help.
