Unruly Interruption

The Mayor of Salobreña is far from happy after protestors against the rise in the IBI tax forced their way into the Town Hall, causing abundant disruption. According to the Town Hall, local police officers were shoved to one side by the protestors.

The Mayor considered the incident to have been very serious and intolerable. Consequently, both local police and the Guardia Civil are considering taking legal action.

More than two hundred people had been demonstrating on Friday morning when the incident took place. It appears that some of the protesters had taken exception when the police officers allegedly denied them entrance to the building; something that the Mayor has denied.

It appears that the Mayor’s promise to ‘revise the proposed tax increase’ has not convinced everybody in Salobreña.
