IU Denounces Underhand Manoeuvrings

The Izquierda Unida has denounced what they consider to be ‘dirty tricks’ within the Town Hall concerning the recently reinstated workers: an anonymous letter is being circulated between the municipal offices, rejecting the reincorporation of these workers.

New Day Centre for Almunecar?

The Town Hall is looking into the possibility of expanding the pensioners’ housing facilities near the town bus station. This existing complex consists of a pensioners’ club and self-catering flats for residence.

PSOE Seeks Office Space

The PSOE party in Almunecar are seeking to obtain a locale in La Herradura where they can attend to the needs and inquiries from the local population. A request has been put before the Town Hall in the form of a letter requesting a space in the village to meet residents and have meetings.

La Herradura On Track

The village of La Herradura has many miles, tracks and dry riverbeds spread through the village centre, housing estates and rural areas, all of which need continuous maintenance, especially after the investment of municipal funds and the help and support of the Construction Planning and Deputation department of the local government to get a good many of roads and tracks asphalted.

One of the last controversial acts of Juan Carlos Benavides’s Mayoralty was the dismissal of five town-hall workers. The said workers took their grievance to court. Now the new Mayoress has made good a promise made as part of her investiture speech and reinstated the five municipal workers

Cotobro Beach Controversy

Today, there was an article in the provincial press, concerning Cotobro Beach, or more accurately, the lack of it: the gale at the beginning of the week had wiped it out. Access Restored

One of the first things that the new Mayor did, after taking up office, was to remove the red-tapes on the stairs leading up to the first floor of the Town Hall – they had been put in place by the previous tenants of the Mayor’s office to prevent members of the public having access.

Chuffed Carchuna

Thanks to an agreement between the Motril Town Hall and the Junta the Paseo de Carchuna will have parking space. What’s more, two-way traffic will be maintained during the summer.

New Fire Engine
