The 87th annual swim across Motril Port took place on the Saturday the 16th. It is the second oldest race of this kind in Spain.

La Herradura finally held its swimming competition with 80 swimmers taking part. Estela Orozco and Marcos Álvarez took the women’s and men’s first places, respectively. There were prizes for the kiddies and veteran swimmers, Ángel Galdo, was handed a plaque.
Paragliding Accident in La Herradura

A 56-year-old man of British nationality had suffered a small accident when coming in to land on La Herradura beach. Fortunately, he was not seriously injured, despite the 4-metre drop when the parachute partially collapsed.

Swimming Competition Postponed

The La Herradura, across-the-bay, swimming competition due to be held this month has been postponed owing to adverse weather conditions. The First Councillor for the village, Ruiz Joya, took the decision, despite many participants already having registered, after it being recommended by the maritime branch of the Guardia Civil and by the Red Cross.
