Motril Swimming Competition

MOT Port Swim Event OnLThe 87th annual swim across Motril Port took place on the Saturday the 16th July. It is the second oldest race of this kind in Spain.

The event, which was organized by the Real Club Náutico de Motril, had over 300 participants, amongst them the European champion for such open water events, Guillem Pujol Belmonte, who won the event.

Guillem Pujol took the European title in Kocaeli (Turkey) in the 5-km-long, open-water race.

Another participant and winner in Motril was Paula Ruiz Bravo (Real Club Mediterráneo de Málaga), who also won the children’s category in the European open-water championships on the 19th of July in Zagreb (Croatia), winning the 1,600-metre race.

MOT travesia motril4Back in Motril there was a special category for minors (under 12’s) who had a 600 metre length to cover, accompanied by monitors along the way.
