Well, the new boys in the Salobrena Town Hall appear to have their act together as Lobres can actually enjoy the TV now, along with the rest of Spain. Until now the TDT (Television Digital Terrestre) has been pretty rubbish.

Coastal News: The Junta de Andalucia has announced that it will try to develop the resources of the municipalities on the Costa Tropical through its POT (Plan de Ordenacion del Territorio), which is the area equivalent to a municipalities PGOU (General Urban Development Plan).
100,000-euro Unpaid Phone Bill

The new tenants of the Salobrena Town Hall are not happy bunnies because the previous administration hadn’t paid even one bill of the 120 telephone lines at the Town Hall, resulting in an outstanding bill for 100,000 euros. The new mayor claims that the last time that a bill was paid to the telephone company was in 2008.

Bank Robbers Arrested

The Guardia Civil and Policia Nacional carried out a joint operation that culminated in the arrests of two bank robbers accused of having carried out raids on the Banco Popular in Salobrena. These two men had burst into the branch, wearing hoods and carrying fire-arms on the 1st of July. A third member of the gang waited outside with the get-away car.
No Pool for Lobres

The municipal swimming pool remains closed despite the summer temperatures, much to the annoyance of the locals, who have to make their way to Motril swimming pool or Salobreña beach for a quick dip.

Access Restored

One of the first things that the new Mayor did, after taking up office, was to remove the red-tapes on the stairs leading up to the first floor of the Town Hall – they had been put in place by the previous tenants of the Mayor’s office to prevent members of the public having access.
N-340 Road Accident
