Dead Dolphin on Salobrena Beach

The carcass of a large dolphin was washed up onto one of Salobrena’s beaches yesterday. The Spanish name is delfin calderon but is known as a Risso’s dolphin, (grampus griseus) after the chap who first described them in 1812.

Salobrena & Cheese!

On the 19th and 20th of this month, the Mercado de Queso Tradicional de Andalucia will be offering the top traditional cheeses to the townsfolk and holidaymakers in Salobrena – certainly not to be sniffed at!

Costa Tropical Hotel Blues?

The 13th of August was the only day, so far, that hotels on the Costa Tropical were 100% full – campsites, however, have been full on the last two weekends at least.

Get-Away Car Found

The robbers attempted to raid a games hall on Calle Alboran, Salobrena at the beginning of the week. The robbery was frustrated, thanks to a routine, Local-Police patrol around 15.00h on Monday the 9th.

Diving off the Rock

A Dozen Families Stand Guard

As the day began, yesterday, the residents of Calle Juan 23E were on the watch for anybody sneaking up on them… to cut the water supply off. And 12 of the 14 affected families have been taking turns on watch since Monday the 1st of August.
