The Guardia Civil and Policia Nacional carried out a joint operation that culminated in the arrest of two bank robbers accused of having carried out bank raids, one of which was at the Banco Popular in Salobrena. These two men had burst into the branch, wearing hoods and carrying firearms on the 1st of July. A third member of the gang waited outside with the getaway car.
The two men, 22-year-old Ismael L.M. and 28-year-old Francisco Javier C.G. only managed to bag a total of 300 euros, it is reported.
The men were actually arrested on the 8th of July; on the same day that they had allegedly carried out two raids on banks in the province of Almería, in the villages of La Cañada and San Urbano, this time taking a total of 5,240 euros. The police actually caught them as they were attempting to cross back over the provincial border into Granada.
