Firemen Down A Hole

The Local-Area Council, (Mancomunidad de Municipios de la Costa Tropical) has organised a potholing course for the firemen of the towns along the Costa Tropical. Fourteen firemen in all, are being instructed in how to carry out rescue missions in caves, mines and crevices.

Salobreña School Lock In

Almost 100 Pupils and five teachers from the secondary school in Salobreña staged an all-night sit in inside the school before setting off the next day to join the protest march in the city of Granada, joining up with the university students. The parents association supported this initiative.

IBI Up Again in Salobreña

The Salobreña Town Council has approved an increase in the IBI (property tax) From 0.4% to 1.0%, which, according to the IU (left wing) party, makes the total increase so far as 40%.
