Avenida García Lorca

As I write this, there are now actually items of heavy machinery working on the renovation of Av. Garcia Lorca. I kid you not. No more of the two men with shovels. It makes you think, though.

Avenida de Salobreña

The Avenida de Salobreña, otherwise known as the road from the Alcampo supermarket into the centre of Motril, has now been out of action (closed) since May 2009 with a projected completion date of late March 2010.

Blustery Three Kings

Locals say that this year’s Cabalgata de Los Reyes Magos, is going to be a blustery affair, because it will take the route of La Variente, which is pretty unprotected from the belligerent, chilling wind, hurtling down the mountain.

Road Works in Town

Concerning the roadworks in town – on Calle Nueva and Av. Federico Garcia Lorca, the first has been a mess for over six months now – due, as reported earlier, to contractor problems, which, according to a well-informed funcionario in the Town Hall, are not easily solved.

Avenida de Salobreña

Let’s start the betting! Motril Council has said it is going to try and get the Avenida de Salobreña opened in time for business by Christmas. Now let’s see. From the time of writing this on 23 November, that will give approximately 20 working days for the works to be completed!

Lanjarón Roadworks Update

Here’s the follow up on the roadworks in Lanjarón. As I promised, I went to find more info about it and I managed to get an interview with the works foreman, Nicolas Doce. This is what he told me:

Calle Nueva Chaos

The halted work on Calle Nueva is raising blisters on the Town Hall’s complaints desk as locals lose patience. The Calle Nueva belongs to the centro histórico of Salobreña, containing many businesses that are being adversely affected by the road works, especially since any signs of activity have disappeared since May.
