The salvaging operation to refloat the stricken yacht on Playa de Carchuna a week or so ago, which ended with it being towed to Motril Port, was not cheap.
The Maritime Authorities through Salvamento Marítimo (Sea-Rescue Service) have ordered the removal of fuel from the beached motoryacht on Playa de Carchuna.
The yacht suffered a problem in the engine room during the morning leaving the craft at the mercy of wind and currents, so they called for help at 13.30h.
The Servicio Marítimo (Guardia) carried out a rescue 500 metres from the Chucha beach in Carchuna after a boat began to sink, leaving two people treading water.
The craft beached rapidly and the occupants raced for cover in the rocks – but this wasn’t D-Day 1944 but a jet-ski landing on Calahonda beach with four occupants.
