The Maritime Authorities through Salvamento Marítimo (Sea-Rescue Service) have ordered the removal of fuel from the beached motoryacht on Playa de Carchuna.
A specialised team of divers arrived from Cartagena set about drawing up a bathymetry chart (submarine topography) of the seabed around the stricken yacht, which is essential if the craft is to be refloated and towed off the beach.
The sea-rescue launch, SAR Mastelero will attempt the towing operation this coming weekend.
It appears that the owner has refused to take on the expense of removing the yacht from its present location, which would mean that he loses any rights over it.
It is the intention to have the yacht towed to Motril and once there either sell it as a going concern or to sell it for scrap, depending on the state it is in once it arrives.
