The Mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo (PP), announced that things could be moving, regarding the EDAR (Estación Depuradora de Aguas Residuales, or sewage treatment plant), which is about time as Nerja is just about the only town on the Costa del Sol that doesn’t have one. The budget amounts to 40.5m euros.
Ex-Municipal Secretary Speaks Out

The ex Municipal Secretary, Arantxa Ibarreche, has spoken out for the first time since her dismissal, which took place at the beginning of this month. She was invited to speak at a meeting of the Asociacion Mujeres Ecologistas sexitanas, where most of the apparatus of the CA, including the ex-Mayor, Juan Carlos Benavides, was present.
Minister Promises Progress

The Minister for Fomento (Public Works), Ana Pastor, during a visit to the town has assured the Mayor of Motril, Carlos Rojas, that the Central Government is fully behind the termination of the A-7 and even including the Costa Tropical within the Mediterranean rail corridor, which had previously been rejected by the Socialist Government prior to the General Elections.

The Lanjarón Town Hall has decided to lower taxes for the business sector and anybody who creates employment. According to the Mayor, Eric Escobedo, this will affect taxes on ‘occupation of public way’, i.e. bar and restaurant terraces, for example.

As far as I can remember, Almuñécar has never been as beautifully adorned for Christmas as this year. The spectacular Christmas tree at the Town Hall square, with hundreds of poinsettias in a 7 metre high structure, and the fabulous decorations of the many roundabouts, especially the one at Avenida Carlos I, with a huge cello in the middle.
