Controversy over Salobreña Film-Festival Poster

SAL Cine Noire poster OnLSalobreña’s ever more popular cine-noir film festival this year is not getting off to a good start, thanks to its poster.

A competition for the best poster design was organized by the event organizers, Asociación Cultural Calibre 18seis80 and a winner chosen from the 189 submitted works

However, it was discovered that the winner had submitted a plagiarism. So, the runner-up’s poster was chosen.

But the problems didn’t go away.

The social networks reflected an opinion that the drawing on which it was based was also a plagiarism. The judges panel, however, decided to go ahead with the second poster and present it at the national tourist fair in Madrid, Fitur.

Then the third grumble came out via the internet social networks as well, perceiving it as sexist. This was taken up by the Salobreña Women’s Association.

The author of the poster had given it the title of Femme Fatal (Hell, all good Cine Noir films worth their salt have a Femme Fatal!)

Now, totally cheesed off by it all, the organizers have withdrawn the poster completely and have practically confirmed that they are going to use the poster from last year’s festival.

As for the 500-euro prize for the best poster submitted, they haven’t decided what they are going to do with it. Might I suggest, they go out and get pissed with it?
