Salobreña Fiestas 2010

Herewith the Summer Festival Programme, which we received just a tad late, surprisingly… Anyway, plenty to offer, so read on! Ah, anybody who missed the classical music concert in La Herradura, where members of the Cologne Philamonic Orchestra played in a chamber arrangement will have a chance to see them again, but in Salobreña at…

Motril Fiestas 2010

The annual summer fiestas begin from the 10th, culminating in the grand firework display on the night of the 16th. Almuñécar has theirs on the 15th, so you have the chance to watch them both. [nggallery id=47]

¡Viva España!

How could we possibly not dedicate this month’s Front Page to Spain’s World Cup victory, even though it might seem old hat by the time that you get your hands on this copy of the Seaside Gazette?

Almuñécar Car Parks Open

Both controversial underground car parks are now open for use. The San Cristóbal one opened on the 23rd of July and the Velilla one opened on the 30th of the same month.

Injured by Propeller

A bather on one of Almuñécar’s beaches was injured by a boat’s propeller on the Sunday the 25th of last month, at around 14.00h, when most our beaches were veritably ‘throbbing.’

Injury at the Waterfalls

Groyne Grows Beach

There is good news down Velilla way with the termination of the groyne work. Even in the short time that this beach-protection construction has been working its way out, metre by metre, the beach to the east of it has grown quite noticeably.

PP Announces Pre-Election Campaign

The Partido Popular has kicked off their local-elections, pre-campaign, which is why you have probably seen banners stretching across the roads with Trinidad’s face, calling for a change.

Mayor’s Stern Warning

One item not included in the July edition, but very relevant, however, was the announcement by the Town Hall that they would be coming down heavily on illegal constructions within the municipality, meaning that demolitions rather than fines will be the order of the day.

Fire Aboard

What a low blow! Just as the summer was set to begin, some bloody pyromaniac incinerated a whole fleet of pedaloes (pedal-powered catamarans).

No Stink

Finally we come to the new sewage pump installations outside Las Góndolas… It’s finished and there isn’t a whiff of… The Lord knows that it took years and tears, but finally El Paseo Reina Sofía near Las Góndolas no longer smells like a stink-bomb factory. They had to build something that Rommel might have been…
