The Electricity Rebellion II

Last month we reported on two Alpujarreños that had rebelled against Sevillana/Endesa’s haughty disdain for its customers. Well, their stance has attracted the support of many locals. One café-bar, for example, has taken to using oil lamps and candles in the evenings. His customers, he claims, not only don’t mind; they even quite like it, especially as it is a show of solidarity.

According to the original rebels, Cristopher and Fernando, several establishments in Órgiva have joined in, including: El Tite, Sastago, El Semáfaro, Curtis, Némesis, etc, etc. The two men have also collected 200 signatures that support their cause – amongst them foreign residents in the area from 30 different countries.
