Now back to politician bashing… or more accurately, politicians bashing fellow politicians; an Olympic sport that is bound to increase as the municipal elections draw closer.
The PSOE have heavily criticised the Mayor’s party for the state of abandon that the municipal picadero (riding stables) finds itself in. This stable-cum-riding school is located in Taramay, just behind the closed down Hotel Taramay.
There was quite a bit of controversy surrounding the picadero last year over the way the previous leaseholder was treated, and things appear to be going the same way with the present leaseholder, a riding teacher from Málaga.
According to the opposition leader, Francisco Prados, the facilities have been simply turned into a municipal dumping ground for vegetable waste; i.e., cuttings from trees and other vegetation refuse from municipal gardened areas.
Amazingly, the picadero lease was awarded to the present leaseholder on the 27th of January, Andrea Podadera, in exchange for an annual lease of 10,653 euros, yet not only were the facilities not cleared up before handing over, but also dumping has apparently continued.
Señora Podadera gave the Town Hall the option of either tidying it up themselves or her doing it and discounting the said expense from the lease fee. The estimated sum needed to put the facilities right is approximately 5,000 euros. Not a sausage has been heard from the Town Hall, however.
It is a further pity, seeing as the good lady wanted to open the facilities to local schools to promote horse riding and provide such experience to the kids.
