Torrenueva is flexing its newly independent muscles in tourism with plans to link the main beach with Playa La Joya just around the headland.
There is very little news but it appears that a mobile heavy crane tipped over in Torrenueva on Thursday, standing end up with all its wheel facing the paseo marítimo.
Torrenueva now has its own municipal police force, thanks to an accord with the Albuñol Town Hall. Up until now the police service was covered by Motril.
Within the space of four days, the Junta will announce in the Regional Gazette the independence of Torrenueva from Motril – it’s official.

This Motril dependency has long sought independence from its mother town but now it has all the necessary paperwork together, at last.
