Ex anorexic Peter Czerwinski has become a hamburger-eating champion! The 24-year-old ate 15 hamburgers in the space of 10 minutes during the competition called the Z-Burger Independence Burger Eating Championship. The title also came with 1,000 dollars, to spend on larger trousers one would guess, the win also pocketed him 1,000 dollars worth of gift cards for the local hamburger chain, just what he needs… another bunch of bloody burgers!

Midsummer – July Nordic Column

We celebrate Midsummer Eve in our summer cottage in the Finnish archipelago. The vegetable garden has been sown for the summer’s harvest with potato, salad, beans, onions, peas, chives and last but not least, the dill for our ‘gravlax’ the marinated salmon Scandinavian style. Geraniums in their boxes are bright red against the sheer greenery of birches and scrubs. Lilies of the valley and lilac branches decorate the tables of our cabin.

It does not seem that I am able to resist the subject of coffee at present and I have good and bad news for coffee lovers: you die younger, but not because of the coffee, but because coffee drinkers are more likely to have other unhealthy habits. The NIH-AARP Diet & Health Study which followed 400,000 people over 13 years has shown, that coffee drinkers are more likely to die, because they are more likely to smoke, drink alcohol, do little exercise and abstain from fruit and veg consumption.
