At what point does becoming attached to your mobile phone become dangerous for your health? Well, what happened in Alicante is such a case.

The mountain-rescue service in Alicante were called out to rescued a man who was stranded on a rock face in the area of Castillo de Santa Bárbara.
The old castle on Monte Banacantil offers an ideal spot to take a great panormaic shot of the town below, too good to miss. Or was it, for this tourist?
The tourist, and we have no idea of this person’s nationality, as no country has the monopoly on the dimly aware, decided to park his common sense and get too close to a drop for a great photo. It was close to 13.00h last Sunday.
Well, somehow, the telephone slipped from his grasp and down it went. But instead of waving it goodbye, he decided to climb down this steep cliff, as it hadn’t fallen all the way down.
However, reunited with the phone, he was now stuck. Unable to descend further or to go back up, he was lucky enough to discover that the phone still worked, so he phoned 112.
Fire personnel used their rescue team to set up ropes & harnesses and reach the man and get him and his phone back up to the top. It wasn’t easy, either, but rescue him they did. They should have just flung him off the top again and kept his phone… but that’s just how the Gazette sees it
One last point, there are sign posts up there warning people not to stand too close to the edge, as it is deemed unstable
